Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Teaching and Tutoring
• Lead the LPN apprenticeship program as coordinator, with most teaching duties focused on it.
• Teach both credit and non-credit courses within the nursing and allied health programs across the LDCC service area.
• Provide tutoring services for ASN, LPN, and other allied health nursing programs as directed when not teaching classes.
• Plan, develop, and implement effective teaching methods and materials that align with course objectives and cater to students' diverse educational backgrounds and learning styles, ensuring engagement and learning.
• Maintain regular office hours and accurate grade and tutoring records.
• Respond promptly to requests for information.
• Attend and actively participate in faculty and departmental meetings.
• Design and develop curriculum in accordance with state and accreditation body guidelines.
• Provide mentorship and support for associate faculty.
• Assist with the assessment and placement of students into appropriate courses.
• Participate in student recruitment, advisement, and serve on college committees.
• Identify student learning outcomes and develop assessment tools and processes. Collaborate with colleagues to revise instruction and materials based on assessment results.
2. Professional Development
• Maintain standards of competence in discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through ongoing professional development activities.
• Regularly review, evaluate, and refine program curricula, tutoring methods, and teaching strategies through self-reflection and feedback.
• Meet or exceed professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, and requirements from business/industry and higher education as relevant to the discipline(s).
3. Service
• Actively engage in college meetings, committees, task forces, and councils.
• Participate in college-related activities such as registration, community education, student recruitment and retention, and faculty selection.
• Contribute to student retention by providing tutoring support and participating in student organizations and events.
• Foster goodwill and promote the college's mission and values through business and community engagement.
• Ensure adherence to program and college accreditation standards by participating in related activities.
• Collaborate on departmental goal setting, budget development, and planning to achieve strategic goals.
• Promote and maintain departmental affiliations and partnerships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education: 

• Must be a registered nurse with at least three years of nursing experience, including at least one year as a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse providing direct patient care.
• Applicants must have practiced as a nurse for at least six full-time months within the three years immediately preceding the application.
• A valid Louisiana RN license or Compact license is required.
