Duties and Responsibilities: 

The basic functions of the Coordinator for Student Wellness and Counseling Services (Non-Clinical Position) include:
WORK HABITS – 50%
1. Crisis Management and Response/Emergency Response Coordination:
a. Respond promptly to crisis situations involving students, such as mental health emergencies, threats of self-harm or harm to others, and other urgent situations.
b. Coordinate and lead crisis response efforts, working closely with relevant campus departments, faculty, and external agencies as necessary.
c. Provide immediate support and intervention to students in crisis, including conducting risk assessments and facilitating appropriate interventions.
d. Serving as a key member of the college’s emergency response team, ensuring preparedness for crisis situations.
e. Coordinating communication and actions during emergencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.

2. Program Development and Implementation:
a. Design, implement, and oversee wellness and counseling programs that address student needs, focusing on prevention, education, and support.
b. Manage and enhance the SoLAcc Wellness Hub, including its services, resources, and events.
c. Develop and maintain program materials, resources, and communication strategies.

3. Resource Management:
a. Oversee the development, distribution, and maintenance of wellness resources and materials.
b. Manage the budget for wellness programs and resources, ensuring efficient use of funds and resources.
c. Maintain relationships with community partners (Beacon Connections and The Family Tree) and ensure equitable access to online support services (BetterMynd and Oasis).

4. Title IX and Student Conduct:
a. Serve as an Investigator for assigned Title IX and Student Conduct cases.
b. Provide updates to the Title IX and Student Conduct Manager/Executive Director for Student Services on emergent issues and cases that require immediate attention.
c. Author investigative reports for the Executive Director for Student Services to review and make recommendations on.

BEHAVIORAL STANDARDS – 30%
5. Advising and Support:
a. Provide individual advising and support to students seeking guidance on wellness-related issues.
b. Act as a liaison between students and clinical services, ensuring a seamless experience for those requiring more specialized support.

6. Continuous Improvement and Evaluation
a. Evaluating the effectiveness of student care programs and crisis intervention strategies.
b. Recommending improvements based on feedback, data analytics, and best practices.

7. Data Collection and Evaluation:
a. Collecting and analyzing data related to student incidents and interventions to assess
effectiveness of programs and identify areas for improvement.
b. Maintaining accurate records and documentation of student interactions and crisis incidents.

TEAM RELATIONS – 15%
8. Collaboration and Coordination:
a. Collaborating with community organizations, mental health professionals, and external agencies to enhance support services for students.
b. Coordinating with academic advisors, residence life staff, and student affairs personnel to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
c. Manage the sensory rooms and ensure they are maintained and available for student and employee use.
d. Facilitate collaboration between various service areas, such as financial health, spiritual health, and environmental health, to provide comprehensive support.

9. Outreach and Education:
a. Plan and conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions on topics related to mental health, wellness, and stress management.
b. Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, and staff to promote wellness initiatives and create a supportive campus culture.

INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT – 5%
10. Policy Development and Review:
a. Participating in the development and review of college-wide policies related to student welfare, crisis management, and intervention.
b. Advocating for policies that promote a safe and supportive environment for all students.

11. Cultural Competency and Sensitivity:
a. Demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity in addressing the diverse needs of students from various backgrounds and identities.
b. Upholding confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions and interventions

Required Education: A Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of required experience OR four (4) years of experience in the following:
Working in crisis management or diverse student populations; OR
Working in a wellness center, health club, or similar; OR
Working with telehealth services such as Oasis and BetterMynd or similar, OR
Working with digital platforms such as Canvas, Maxient, CANVA, Lola or similar.

Required Experience: A Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of required experience OR four (4) years of experience in the following:
Working in crisis management or diverse student populations; OR
Working in a wellness center, health club, or similar; OR
Working with telehealth services such as Oasis and BetterMynd or similar, OR
Working with digital platforms such as Canvas, Maxient, CANVA, Lola or similar

Mathematical Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications.

Must be able to exercise both authority and good judgment in a variety of situations, demonstrating exceptional leadership characteristics and interpersonal skills. Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, goal-oriented atmosphere, both independently and as part of a unified team. Must be familiar with the major issues of student life and retention present in the realm of higher education and able to discuss options and alternatives to address them. Excellent leadership, customer service, phone, mentoring, training, and organizational skills are necessary. The ability to transport self in a timely manner from location to location.

Required Licenses or Certifications: Criminal Background Clearance. Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma

Preferred Experience: 5 years of experience working in crisis management, serving as a counselor, therapist, or social worker; OR
5 years of experience working in student affairs/higher education as a program manager or specialist; OR
5 years of experience working within a community or state agency.
