Duties and Responsibilities: • Keep abreast of trends and innovative technology in librarianship, information science and higher education.
• Maintain quality collections and services which meet library standards and accreditation requirements.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of library services and collections; make recommendations for improvement.
• Supervise library personnel, set individual work plans, and prepare annual performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with library staff to develop strategic and long-range plans.
• Fiscally responsible for library budget.
• Oversee the maintenance of the library’s physical facility.
• Provide leadership at departmental meetings, Library Advisory Committee meetings, and Illumination Series Committee meetings and functions.
• Prepare Annual Statistical Report.
• Serve on college committees.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
Required Education: • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science or equivalent degree in library and information science.
Required Experience: Five years of experience as a librarian with at least two years at a management level.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team on larger projects.
• Ability to initiate and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Leadership and management skills sufficient to lead a staff, potentially operating on a rotating schedule in multiple locations.
• Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment and networked personal computers.
• Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in a variety of software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations needed to complete job tasks.
• Skilled at planning, organizing, and prioritizing job duties to meet deadlines.
• Maintaining interpersonal professional working relationship at all levels – students, peers, and executives.
