Duties and Responsibilities: 

INSTRUCTION (50%)
• Conducts theoretical and technical training classes providing theory, simulation, and practical applications for students in the          manufacturing industry.
• Provides hands-on training in advanced applications, training, and testing for robotics, conveyor systems, controls, electrical systems,  PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other systems related to the manufacturing industry.
• Delivers curriculum content via verbal, audible and visual methods while fostering an atmosphere of inclusion and safety.
• Evaluates students based on their achievements through documented measurable objectives/outcomes.
• Provides students with frequent, timely assessments of and clear feedback regarding their academic/training performance.
• Plans and implements strategies and activities to accomplish course objectives/outcomes.
• Arrives promptly and sets up classrooms/practical areas before class start times.
• Meets each class during the scheduled hours for campus-based classes OR participate in teaching and learning activities as scheduled     for off-campus and online classes.
• Uses established training materials to present training exercises and practice in preparing students to safely operate & repair equipment on production and assembly lines
• Prepare and distribute learning syllabi for each course assigned to teach

ADMINISTRATION (40%)
• Accurately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.
• Maintains equipment and supplies, field trips, outline, or other special activities needed for a course.
• Collaborate with Program Manager, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.
• Develop curriculum guides, course syllabi and outlines, and other instructional materials when needed.
• Maintain appropriate student records, i.e., grades, placement, completion, and licensure statistics (if applicable), etc. Specifically maintain accurate course attendance records if required by course academic conditions or professional or licensure/registration requirements.

OTHER DUTIES (10%)
• Attend and engage in professional development activities related to course preparation and as required by SoLAcc.
• Fulfills professional assignments in accordance with the South Louisiana Community College calendar and contractual obligations.
• Stays current and up to date with all LCTCS and SoLAcc diversity and training assignments.
• Keeps work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
• Dresses appropriately for the work environment.
• Mandatory attendance for all full-time faculty meetings and convocation.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Education: 

Associate degree or 5 years of industry related experience

Required Experience: 

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in the manufacturing industry
• Industry knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:
     *Preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of machines and electronic equipment
     *Installation, operation and maintenance of all types of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components of production equipment
     *Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems using schematics and technical drawings
     *Using machine tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices to fabricate machine parts
     *Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
     *Experience with robotics
     *Lifting and rigging using cranes, hoists or other material handling equipment
• Ability to work with diverse populations in a team environment
• Apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Excellent communication skills

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong background in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls.
• Demonstrate familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.
• Dedication to teaching and student learning providing quality education emphasizing college level standards.
• Commitment to studying, analyzing, and implementing learning strategies that will help students reach their education goals.
• Experience using teaching techniques that support diverse learning styles.
• Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of instructional technology basic working
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Education: 

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Experience: 

• Journey-Level machinist or equivalent
• Prior experience teaching or mentoring in a college, technical, or vocational environment
