Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Building classes and retaining the students to completion, with all available seats filled at all times.
• Maintain a minimum number of 15 active students in each class session.
• Implement procedures and program retention activities to ensure attendance.
• Responsible for the delivery of classes in the manufacturing pathway for students in a correctional facility in the areas of Basic Life Support (BLS), OSHA 10, Lift Truck Operator, and NCCER Core.
• Develop and implement weekly lesson plans according to the skilled trades/NCCER Core/workforce curriculum, and TABE 11/12 that incorporate authentic, real-life contexts that are responsive to the needs, goals, and interests of adult students.
• Utilize best practices in planning and instruction, including integrating a variety of tools and technology (e.g., audio-visual, computers, video, etc.) to support classroom learning, universal design for learning, and other methods of differentiation.
• Deliver whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to students. It is expected that all instructional strategies will be utilized in class and not only individualized instruction.
• Adjust instructional strategies, when needed, to meet diverse student needs.
• Submit data into the WorkReady U State Database System (SIS) as prescribed by policy; submit data into the NCCER database system systematically and regularly as prescribed by NCCER
• Administer the pre- and post-test using the TABE Assessment according to federal guidelines
• Participate in scheduled in-service training, multi-disciplinary team and staff meetings, as well as professional development trainings and activities
• Responsible for notifying administration of any planned or unplanned changes within the classroom (i.e., absences, time change, meetings, etc.).
• Participate in commencement ceremonies for Adult Education Division
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Education: 

• A baccalaureate degree in the field of education, manufacturing, or other related field
• Strong communication skills, including both written and oral, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities
• Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Possess excellent time management skills with ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and complete assignments in a timely manner
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and internet research techniques. Prior database experience preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Training in Adult Education or experience in working in an Adult Education
• Experience working in a correctional setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• This position is classified as light work and periodically requires a person to lift objects up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.


NOTE: This position is a grant funded position, and the continuation of the position is dependent upon funding availability. Continuation is based on the program meeting state and federal benchmarks.
