Duties and Responsibilities: • Teach assigned forestry technology courses, and associated labs in accordance with the college’s workload policy.
• Maintain written instructional standards.
• Facilitate instruction in accordance with instructional standards using alternative delivery methods as needed.
• Post and maintain office hours in accordance with policy.
• Maintain familiarity and adherence to school policy.
• Participate in the assessment and development of student learning outcomes.
• Establish, maintain, and submit accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
• Assist in the preparation of course proposals, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
• Review and update course outlines, lesson plans, textbooks, and field experiences for forestry technology courses.
• Assist with curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.
• Implement changes as necessary to maintain a successful forestry technology program.
• Integrate knowledge of customers, competitors, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve program quality.
• Work as part of an instructional team by participating in forestry technology course scheduling, department, division, and college meetings.
• Serve on college committees as assigned.
• Work to maintain the integrity of department curriculum.
• Maintain partnerships with local area employers to assist in arranging field experiences for program students.
• Collaborate with college community and area high schools in support of forestry technology events and competitions.
• Assist in recruiting students and supporters for the program.
• Participate in job fairs, recruiting events, and other special events related to the forestry technology program.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
• Act as advisers to student organizations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
• Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and career planning.
• Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Required Education: • Bachelor’s degree in forestry for industry and landowners.
Required Experience: • Three years of relevant applied experience.
Preferred Education: • Master’s degree in forestry for industry and landowners.
Preferred Experience: • Post-secondary or military equivalent teaching experience.
• 3 years leadership experience.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
