Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for classroom and clinical teaching, course planning and other programmatic and college activities.
25% Shares responsibility for course planning, curriculum development/revision with peers. Participates in developing course requirements, classroom content and other related materials. Evaluates course policies, content, teaching methods and clinical experiences. Incorporates student evaluation data in course revisions. Reviews textbooks and supplemental materials for use in the course. Collaborates with faculty of other courses to provide continuity of course content.
25% Maintains expertise in the area of responsibility. Uses evidence based research to update teaching content. Utilizes creative and innovative teaching methods. Correlates theoretical concepts with clinical practice. Constructs test questions and exams based on student learning outcomes. Analyzes test questions for validity. Solicits student feedback.
25% Maintains expertise in clinical practice. Evaluates clinical facilities. Supervises students in the clinical area. Assists students to develop critical thinking skills and sound clinical judgment. Evaluates students according to course outcomes.
25% Participates on level, division and college committees as assigned. Participates in policy development. Serves as am academic advisor for assigned students. Abides by the philosophy and policies of the program and affiliating agencies. Serves as a role model for students and colleagues. Demonstrates initiative and self-direction. Maintains scheduled class times and office hours. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing from institutions accredited by a regional accrediting association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Required Experience: Two years nursing experience with indication of competence as a practitioner in nursing.
Required Licenses or Certifications: Unencumbered Louisiana R.N. license

Preferred Experience: Must be able to meet technical standards of the program which include lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds and standing for up to 12 hours
